Abstract
Difficulty in UE of subprime customer
by
Rajnish Rajan
Although credit scoring and credit history reporting have been established practice for several decades, lending in the subprime sector has been a more recent phenomenon. This is principally due to the difficulty in discerning good customer quality among customers with a bad credit history. The problem is aggravated due to unavailability of enough credit history for these customers, i.e. the issue of thin files. This poster presentation will cover some of the basics of credit scoring, alternate data sources and lending with a focus on the practical aspects and challenges of lending in the subprime sector.
